Route through the swings of Castro Daire

In this itinerary we are going to talk about several swings in the Castro Daire area. Many of them have a stunning landscape, with an immense sky and green mountains to match. Shall we meet them? Ready to swing with us?

The village of Castro Daire is located in the district of Viseu, in the province of Beira Alta. It has a beautiful historic centre, and is located thirty minutes from Viseu, and an hour and a half from Porto.

It is the seat of the municipality, belonging to the district of Viseu, and is in the Viseu Dão-Lafões region in Central Portugal.

The village's history is lost in time, unknown from when it was first inhabited.

The Municipality boasts a vast and diverse landscape and architectural heritage.

In addition to the magnificent landscape, travelers can taste the delights that this small village surrounded by mountains has to offer.

The village has to offer its visitors regional products, mainly excellent quality pork, honey, vermicelli.

We recommend that those who like meat try papas de sarrabulho, a dish well known to residents of the north, dry soups, cornbread and even more..

What about the rails?

The village of Castro Daire is ideal for spending a weekend in nature.

More specifically, it's every screenplay lover's dream.

With a wide variety of itineraries, from the smallest ones like the Moinhos trail, which is a circular trail of 5.5 km and of great scenic, cultural and environmental interest, to the Carvalhos Trail which has a length of 7 .5 km starting in the square of the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Refúgio, in the place of Fojo, at 1040m of altitude.

And with the beginning of the pandemic, swing installations came to Portugal. These swings that are being extended almost throughout Portuguese territory and even reached the small village of Castro Daire.

Pedreira Swing (Castro Daire)

The Baloiço da Pedreira opened its doors in June 2020 and is located in the village of Cela, which belongs to the municipality of Castro Daire, just 33 km from Viseu.

This swing is installed in an old disused quarry and converted into a brand new leisure and relaxation spot overlooking a surprisingly blue lagoon.

The position of the installation is out of the ordinary, with a lot of things to enjoy, picnic and take enough pictures to surprise your friends on social networks.

Swing of Pego (Castro Daire)

The Swing of Pego is located in Praia Natural do Pego, in Castro Daire. Only a swing with a unique space, installed next to the Paiva river, in perfect harmony with nature.

The installation is just a simple swing overlooking the Natural Beach. For lovers of river bathing, it would be perfect to take a ride on this swing, just don't forget your bathing suits and towels.

Swing of Granja I (Castro Daire)

The Swing of Granja I, is installed within the route of the Trilho das Levadas, far from the Paiva river.

This region of scenic and natural interest has two swing facilities, being an ideal place to rest after such a beautiful walk.

Swing of the Granja II (Castro Daire)

The Swing of Granja II, installed next to the Paiva river, seems to be completely forgotten.

Installed on the Levadas Trail, it gives the impression that the children installed it and forgot to come back.

Located in the village of Granja, parish of Mões, the trail has several points of interest and the longest trail follows the Paiva river. Installed on the stepping stones of the Mau river, it is fully incorporated into the nature of the landscape.

Swing of Penedo da Moura (Castro Daire)

The Swing of Penedo da Moura, is in the Municipality of Castro Daire.

Closest to this place is Vale Abrigoso and you can easily reach it by car. You also have to walk a bit.

The installation is a new addition to the swings and we have little information and visits.

At the initiative of the Associação Desportiva Cultural e Recreativa Relvense, a swing was installed that has two seats and also has a view of the distinct nature of the region.

Swing of Malhada (Castro Daire)

The Baloiço da Malhada is located in Tulha Velha, in the Municipality of Castro Daire.

The swing has a panoramic view and leans over the TulhaOld. A simple installation with only room for one person.

Ideal for following a swing route in the Municipality of Castro Daire.

Foz Cabril Swinging (Castro Daire)

The Swing of Foz Cabril, is located in the Recreation and Leisure Area of Foz Cabril, in the Municipality of Castro Daire.

Installed between the Gralheira massif and the Montemuro mountain range, it is the meeting point between the Tenente river and the Paiva river.

Fully incorporated into nature, visitors can rest after a long journey and breathe nature.
