Located in Largo São Cristóvão in the Mouraria district of Lisbon, the Parochial Church of São Cristóvão and São Lourenço was built in the first quarter of the 13th century and underwent great reconstruction during the reign of King D. Manuel I. It has a Mannerist façade typical of the 17th century, with 8 altars.

Inside this wonderful church, the interior decoration is extremely rich. The walls are decorated with oil paintings framed in gilded wood carving and the chapels have arches covered in polychrome tiles. The bench and altar fronts are made of white and pink marble and the ceiling of the nave is adorned with 15 watercolors, a central panel of baroque angels surrounded by 36 oil paintings by Bento Coelho da Silveira.

A visit to the Parish Church of São Cristóvão and São Lourenço can be an incredible opportunity to take a break on the way up to Castelo de São Jorge.
