The Friendship Ties Bridge, affectionately known as the Lovers' Bridge or Ribbon Bridge, is a unique attraction located at Cais do Cojo, in Aveiro, Portugal. Origin and Tradition of the Ribbons
The tradition of the ribbons began in 2004, when two students from the University of Aveiro started an informal initiative, hanging ribbons on the bridge's railings as a symbol of love or friendship. This practice replaced the previous one of padlocks, which was discontinued to preserve the bridge's structure. Today, the friendship ribbons, available in various souvenir shops near Manuel Firmino market, adorn the bridge, adding a vibrant color and profound symbolism to the place.

The Friendship Ties Bridge is not just a place to celebrate relationships, but also a strategic spot to admire the parade of moliceiros, the traditional boats of Aveiro, sailing through the city's canals.
