The Fort of Olheiros, also known as Forte do Canudo, is located near Forte de S. Vicente.
With a garrison of 180 soldiers and 7 artillery pieces, the Fort of Olheiros is the northernmost point of the First Line of defense, between Alhandra and the mouth of the Sizandro river.
In addition to completing the defense of the Sizandro river valley with the forts in the Varatojo range (No. 132, 133, and 134) and the Forte do Grilo (No. 30), it defended the west side of the Forte de São Vicente, less guarded, given the more subdued relief on this side of the mountain.
