The Ermida de São Domingos is a jewel of architecture in the middle of the Azores nature. Located in Lugar das Almas, the parish of Santa Luzia, municipality of São Roque do Pico in the island of Pico, it offers beauty and tranquility to visitors.

This ancient hermitage existed even before the 1670 testament made by Domingos Nunes da Costa to his son the priest, so that mass could be celebrated. It was abandoned for centuries until a restoration work in 1986 turned it available to the faithful again.

Having a unique character, with access by car available, we can find primitive images, such as those of São Filipe de Neri and São Tomé, as well as two paintings embroidered with gold wire, dated from 1782, portraying São Domingos and São Vicente. They were donated by the heirs in 1982 and given back to the hermitage.

Visitors can also enjoy the view to the sea, in addition to the original bell tower, resulting from the restoration works, and maintaining its genuine and refined atmosphere.

Reminding us of the times when it was built and later preserved since 1991, the Ermida de São Domingos is a place of unparalleled beauty that allows us to enjoy the Azorean nature.
