The Church of Santa Maria das Alcáçovas, located at Largo da Alcáçova 2 in Santarém, is a historic church. Founded by the Templars in 1154, soon after the city's conquest by the Moors, originally of Gothic style, some stones and tombs still remain.
During the successive reconstructions in the church throughout the centuries, a mannerist and neoclassical character was acquired because, in its altar, the birth of Our Lady and D. Afonso Henriques at his feet is represented.
