Swing of Sortelha (Sabugal)

On this route that covers six villages in the municipality, we can find emblematic places such as the ruins of Sabugal Velho in the Serra do Homem de Pedra, in the parish of Aldeia Velha, where the main attraction is now the 7-meter-high, 350kg force shaped swing in Sortelha (Sabugal).
Built by the parish council of Aldeia Velha, the Centro Recreativo e Cultural de Aldeia Velha and the Conselho Diretivo dos Baldios de Aldeia Velha, the main purpose of this swing was to honor one of the most important traditions of our territory, the Capeia Arraiana, which has been a Cultural Intangible Heritage since 2011.
At an altitude of about 900 meters, the swing offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a 360° panoramic view.
It awakens in its visitors a mixture of emotions between cultural and religious tradition, since next to it is also the Chapel of Our Lady of Pleasures.
